Client Description: Nebraska Furniture Mart opened its doors in 1937 as a local furniture store and has since expanded into a furniture, electronics, flooring and appliance superstore. Nebraska Furniture Mart has two state-of-the-art retail stores, one 651,000 square foot facility, in Omaha, Nebraska and a new 712,000 square foot facility in Kansas City, Kansas.

Client's Needs: When Nebraska Furniture Mart decided to expand into the Kansas City Market they wanted to create a state-of-the-art facility. Nebraska Furniture Mart required a video distribution system that could route multiple types of media throughout both levels of their 712,000 square foot super store. It was also very important to be able to control the media sent to each zone of the showroom floor from the master control center or the zone itself.

Results: Conference Technologies, Inc. (CTI) design engineers first met with Nebraska Furniture Mart’s architects and building developers to layout where power and cable runs were necessary. CTI then began the process of running over 250,000 feet of cable to establish signal quality for over 600 display devices located in 25 plus zones.

CTI designed, installed and integrated Nebraska Furniture Mart’s video system to route VCRs, DVDs, Direct TV Satellites, Dish Network Satellites, Time Warner Cable boxes, and other NFM requested media. A series of custom, touch-screen control panels were installed in each zone to give sales staff the ability to control media in that particular area of the store. CTI then created a head-end control room with a integrated web page that gave NFM’s management master control of every zone in the store.
